Awesome
Super helpful video. I love how well thought out the sail control systems are…especially the barberhauls. Launching the spin out of the ama hatch looks very easy.
As an Engineer who has come late in to sailing, this boat ticks so many boxes for what I would want. Its easy to see how much thought has gone in to the design and function of every aspect.
Very intrigued by this boat. Peter did an excellent job explaining the details. Honestly the only negative for me is the location of the fridge in the raised portion of the cabin sole. I’d like to see an option to have an additional fridge in lieu of the nav station and then perhaps have the lower fridge be used as a freezer. Also don’t recall any mention of batteries or their location.
Boating is more work than fun. And it's expensive.
Non sailor here but the sharp points of the anchor look very close to the hull, anyone?
How open are they to some customizations for the build? deleting the aft cabin and bringing the kitchen area over, moving the center seating over, arm chairs on one side, extend the forward cabin. and extend the head.
Too expensive for a small boat, its not vacuumed fused hull, for that kind of money you can get a Rapido 50, ten feet longer with a full carbon hull.
Brilliant video! Thank you very much!
"Optional" at every sentence
The only thing I’d like to see changed? The cockpit table legs. I’d like Bayonet fit rather than screw-in. Luv the No hard corners on doors etc.❤❤❤
quite a long video, lots of nice details, just didn't understand why dragonfly put commercials, adds on his videos, really annoying
CE Category 8 is not offshore is it? Thats inshore
Europeans: Here you can sit 6 people. Americans: Excuse me, thats a table for two!
superb Craftsmanship !! what a WoW factor , credit to you and your team , but what is the cost of the basic 40 , cheers
Anywhere to stow a dinghy?
how can i buy this boat ?
What happens with the main sail rigging, when the cockpit is fully enclosed with spray hood and tent?
I was thinking the exact same thing.
Nice demo thanks.
im in love with that boat
Why are trimarans considered faster than catamarans (given the same dimensions) when trimarans only have two hulls in the water during sailing?
Excellent in depth review. Peter did a fantastic job.
What a fantastic combination of 1) a great boat design and 2) a charming and competent team of owners. Brilliant!
I will buy this boat later this year.
Great demo fellas. Enjoyed it tremendously. Nice light air day to demo the great setup on DF boats. Total class.
A beautiful and well thought out boat!
Jeg ville gladelig byttet ut min 38 Nauticat med en av disse ❤️
Nice tour and nicely designed boat. Having good light air performance makes a huge difference on motoring time.
i want one
Where does the main sheet point go when the cockpit tent is set up?
As soon as possible I win the lottery, I buy two😂❤
It’s a well thought of boat I love it I can’t afford it not in a million year but it’s my dream boat as well
I won’t be affording it in 2 million years but I will keep dreaming of one
Only one word describes the dragonfly: incredible! Attention to detail second to none. If I was given the opportunity to choose any cat or trimaran of any size and manufacturer; this is the boat I would choose
I wish I knew how to sail and handle this boat. I only sailed a sunfish when a kid. My dream is to live and sail this type of boat. At 62 I’m afraid this dream just won’t happen. Not enough time or money to fulfill but simply an amazing craft. I have studied many boats and the combination of attention to detail on the dragonfly puts many larger craft to shame. What a great company
Thank you for everything, merrie x mas 🔥💯🤟🏼❤️🙏🏼
I was able to meet Jens in Annapolis USA in October of 2023. I tried to arrange for a sail in Long Island NY but it got too late in the season. I am interested in that test sail in 2024. Jens, please consider building a larger boat for the future??? 😀 The quality of the workmanship of your Dragonfly 40 was evident throughout! Much more success for you and your team in the coming year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Michael
Felices Fiestas para todos vosotros. Un abrazo
For 40 feet I expected it to be way more roomy below.
Now try putting up the spray hood in 30 knot wind with the boat pitching. Gotta make that better.
Fast and easy sailing - just fun. Thumps up.
have a look how masaudon composit makes stronger and much lighter boots ....you old fashion
Well deserved Jens, Peter, and all the rest at Dragonfly.
What are your thoughts on putting sealant in the staylock fitting. I’ve heard arguments against it and for it.
If Quorning could move that forward bulkhead further aft, then there would be more standing room infront of the bed in the forward cabin. The two cupboards in the saloon would be in the forward cabin as well, where they would increase the hanging locker space. It would make quite a difference to the usability. What would the structural implications be?
I hear that people who get the carbon 40 are careful to keep it spartan and save further weight. But if the displacement is the same as the standard 40, doesn't that mean you could increase the equipment weight over that of the standard, and still get the same performance as the standard? I'm thinking if you wanted more of a cruiser, you might want to spend the weight saving from the hull on crusing features.
Thanks for this! Very helpful for those of us with custom trimarans. When you say reef at 20kts, is that true or apparent?
😍🥰
It is definitely not a trailer sailer. You aren’t going to do all that for a sail and pack it away again on the same day. Pity. Nice boat
